The name BUILT x DESIGN or ‘Built by Design’ came from the harsh reality that too many homes are constructed without enough thought given to their design. Even in the field of design build, many firms are led by the ‘build’ and not the ‘design’. BUILT x DESIGN is a design led design build practice, it might seem subtle but when each and every portion of a project is BUILT with the full DESIGN intent, the results are truly custom, entirely unique, and show the careful thought process behind every detail. Commitment to craft and a ‘we design everything’ approach is at the heart of our practice.
We believe in keeping things simple. One project at a time, start to finish, no distractions, done to the very best of our abilities. We believe in modern design that is of our time, yet timeless in its approach. We believe in the art of the master builder, designing what we build and building what we design. We believe in warm materials, textures, natural light, patina, and the comforts of home. We believe in collaboration with our clients, our design partners, and all of our construction team. We believe in nature and blurring the lines of indoors and outdoors. We believe in families and spaces that evolve over time to meet the needs of their occupants. We believe in the modernist mantras that form follows function, less is more, and ornamentation is (can be) a crime. We believe in honoring the history of buildings, while helping them evolve for a new generation. We believe design can serve a greater good and serve communities and individuals in need. We believe in leaving things better then we found them. We believe in making the parts that are unseen just as beautiful as the parts that are seen. We believe good design does not mean expensive or exclusive, but instead can be accessible to all.
Our services are all inclusive. We start at the very beginning with your vision for the outcome, and provide all the supporting pieces in between. Architectural Design, Interior Design, and Construction Services. Our fees are simple and our process streamlined. We are open to collaboration with everyone. We don’t dictate to our clients where they shop, who they work with, and what they should like. This is your home, not ours. This is your hard earned money being spent, not ours. In the end, you are the one who should love it unequivocally. If you choose to work with us, you will be an integrated part of the process, you will be involved in every step, and there will be expectations set for everyone on the team including you.
